Looking for ways to save energy? In addition
to "going solar" here is a list of more energy
saving tips for you to save some money......and save
the Earth!
- Replace incandescent bulbs with compact
fluorescent lights. Compact fluroescent lightbulbs
use only a third as much electricity as a standard
incandescent bulb. AND they last ten times longer
than a regular bulb, which means it will easily pay
for itself.
- Replace outdoor lighting with a motion-detector
equipped bulb. These devices will keep areas
well lit when you need them to be while reducing your
energy bill.
- Install a low-flow showerhead.
Low-flow showerheads will reduce the amount of hot
water you use and the energy needed to heat it.
- Turn down the temperature of your water
heater. Lowering the temperature on your
hot water heater to 120° will
save energy on your utility bill.
- Start using energy-saving settings on your
appliances.
- Weatherize your home. Check for
insulation in attics or crawlspace, caulk around cracks
in your home and around windows. Insulate hot water
pipes and ducts.
- Clean or replace furnace, air-conditioner
and heat pump filters.
- Add a faucet aerator to your sinks.
